Hello and welcome to LifeGuard. In this video, we’re going to show you how to create new Users. You can access the Users page by clicking ‘Users’ in the sidebar.
Users can be made one of two ways:
The first is a site admin can create a user manually by clicking ‘Add New’
Then enter in the required username, email, and password – the other fields are all optional. All of the fields can be changed by the account owner except the username.
The second way is for a user to create an account themselves. WordPress does not allow open registration by default – this must be enabled. To enable open registration, go to Settings>General, and check the checkbox that says “Anyone can register”. We recommend keeping the “New User Default Role” at “Subscriber”. We’ll go over the different roles in a different video, “Users 103 – User Roles and Permissions”.
Now visitors will be able to register on this page: /wp-login.php?action=register
