Day 3: Offer a Giveaway
Just like how everyone likes to give their opinion, everyone loves getting free stuff. So offering a giveaway can be a great way to give your blog a boost.
Benefits of a Giveaway
Giveaways can be very healthy for a blog.
Good news spreads like wildfire, and free stuff is good news. As everyone hears about your giveaway, more and more people will want to get in on the action and visit your site. A traffic boost like this is good for any site, especially if it’s ad supported.
Not only do giveaways foster a traffic spike, they also result in an increase in followers especially if a giveaway is run right. As the giveaway and website gains exposure, followers will naturally come. Provide incentive to follow, and yet even more followers will come.
Links are one of the most important components of SEO, and thankfully are a fantastic side effect of giveaways.
Creating an Effective Giveaway
It’s surprisingly easy for a giveaway to flop – here are some tips to ensure a successful giveaway.
Choose Relevant Prizes
All websites and blogs attract a certain type of readership. Know your readers and pick prizes that are relevant to them. Picking something “super cool” simply doesn’t cut it – it must be relevant to what your readers are interested in.
Offer Multiple ways to Enter
Giving your readers multiple ways to enter makes them feel like they have a better chance at winning. If it’s a random giveaway, give readers multiple ways to earn entries. Things like commenting on the post, liking on Facebook, following on Twitter, or posting on their blog with a link to the giveaway are common ways of entering into online contests. As long as there’s a way to get in contact with the entrants and keep a record of who entered.
Give Incentive to Share
Gaining followers and subscribers are great ways to retain some benefit from the giveaway after it’s over and the traffic spike has subsided. So give them incentive to follow and subscribe.
Hosting a giveaway can be a great way to gain traffic, subscribers, followers, and links. Give it a go, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
